What makes a Rust server a community server?

It sits in the Community tab, is run by a player or group rather than Facepunch, and does not declare the gameplay changes that put a server in the Modded tab, such as altered gather rates or stack sizes. Owners still control team limits, wipe days and map seed. Quality-of-life plugins that leave core Rust mechanics alone are allowed.

How do I pick between these servers?

Start with region, because ping decides most fights in Rust. Then check the group limit and the wipe schedule, since a monthly server with a long run suits a different player than a weekly one. Player count comes last: a server sitting near its cap at your normal play time is the one worth joining.

Do community servers get force wiped?

Yes. Every server, whatever tab it appears in, wipes at the monthly force update, which falls on the first Thursday of the month. On top of that, owners wipe when they choose. Some do it weekly, some monthly, some only when the map seed changes.

Why does a server on this list show no next wipe date?

Because the owner has published no schedule. The date shown is worked out from when the server has actually wiped before. Treat it as a guide rather than a promise and check the server's own page for what it has done recently.
