What is a Rust build server?

A server where resources are free or spawned by a plugin, building is instant, and tools such as noclip are usually available. It exists so you can design or test a base without gathering or being raided. Most players use one in the days before a wipe.

Do Rust build servers give free resources?

Nearly all do, through a plugin or a starter kit, and crafting is instant. Many also give noclip and god mode so you can inspect a design from any angle. The trade is that nothing you build there carries over to a live server, so treat the base as a drawing.

How often do build servers reset the map?

It varies by owner, from a fresh world every few hours to one wiped only at force wipe. The Last wipe and Next wipe columns on each row tell you which pattern that server follows. If the cycle is short, expect your test build to be gone the next time you log in.

Why do build servers appear in the modded list?

Free resources, instant building and noclip change the game, so Facepunch requires the server to be listed as modded. That is a category rule, not a warning about cheating. A modded build server is the correct place for the tools you would not have on vanilla.
